Newry, Northern Ireland March 29
My mothers’ family came from Northern Ireland, County Derry, but today the family is spread out all over the country. For my 30 birthday I went for a month long tour of Ireland with my Grandmother Lily, Uncle Eddie and Aunt Margaret.
On our travels we stayed in the border town of Newry, on the east coast. Rifles and semi-automatic guns are at the borders as they check on pass ports and inquire as to your travel destinations. We don’t hear a lot about the unrest in Ireland but let me assure you we saw enough of it during our month there. We did not always have reservations as we were touring the entire country to visit relatives.
We decided on a country estate close to the border in Newry. It was a beautiful spot and we had a wonderful dinner. I was craving corn and a hamburger and they were both on the menu. Most of our meals were local fare and always delicious with 2 or 3 different kind of potatoes and YES nothing like our spuds for flavour. I howled when my order arrived half a cob of corn out of a can, a Pork hamburger. We retired to our rooms about 9:30pm. An hour later I called Uncle Eddie and asked him to meet me in the bar. Something was wrong and I couldn’t explain why I was so agitated. We discreetly asked about the area and any occurrences as of late. We received no insight. I had a couple of drinks hoping it would help me sleep. No such luck. I lay awake all night agitated. Eddie was in the dining room as we arrived for breakfast. He had a pleasant chat with the manager and had discovered the estate had recently been reopened as it had been bombed. My spidy senses were right. Always trust your instincts. First thought is always higher self. 2nd thoughts your conscious mind trying to control in love and light
