Politically Correct:
Once again I was reminded how easy it is to forget to be politically correct. Having served on 3 boards respectively, 4 , 9 and 24 years, I found it fascinating and sad how many personal agendas were tied into the overall direction of how these boards would be run. My view was to do my best to bring awareness, insight and knowledge to move an organization forward to the betterment of all members.
In the end I left all three for the same reason. Sadly we need to withdraw when we feel our views are no longer valued. In the world of instant gratification we also need to be politically correct in our work ethics or words used in addressing others be it the spoken word or the written .On occasion I found myself guilty in both areas. When this occurs I comply and rectify how the error has been made.
These are all life lessons. I view it as the seasons passing. Spring is about cultivating, fertilizing and applying seeds to nurture. Summer is watering, pulling weeds and encourage growth. Fall is in the abundance of the labour put into your seeds to harvest. Winter is about revisiting all the good, acknowledge the changes needed for the next crop and deciding what works best for you.
"Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, emotion inspired and success achieved". Helen Keller
